Instructions for filling out online application

Your computer will give you the option of downloading the document to your computer or opening from the current location.  We suggest that you open from the current location.  This will lead you into a Microsoft Word formatted application. 

Read through the application first since any information pertinent to your application will displayed on this page.  Go to the “File” menu on the toolbars and choose to print your application.  Upon exiting the online applications, DO NOT SAVE YOUR WORK, or personal information about yourself that will be left on the computer for the next person accessing the site. Bring your finished application to the Office of Dean of Students, 230 Ferguson Center.

Some points to remember when using this online format:

  • Only input information into the space allotted.  If you type beyond the designated space your information will become distorted and will not be printed.
  • Please use State abbreviations and Postal abbreviations when typing information.
  • If you are typing information which is allotted more than one blank, please type your information into the first blank until that blank is filled and   tab to the next to begin typing again.  If you type beyond the allotted blank space, your information will not transfer.

For Example:

  • Type your information up until the end of this blank,
  • Then tab to the next blank to complete your thought.

Helpful Hints:

  • Start early!
  • Be sure to get three (3) letters of recommendation from faculty and administrators who really know you.  Make sure you ask them to write a letter specifically showing how you relate to the award for which you are applying. You may want to give a brief summary of the award to your reference. Remember to thank your faculty.  You may need another reference in the future. 
  • Complete your application online, and only submit the materials that are requested. Any additional information will not be considered.
  • Be sure to check your application and essay for grammatical and spelling errors.
  • Write original work for your essay.
